Living in Santa Monica, we’re lucky — walkable neighborhoods, the beach, and ample sunshine throughout the year. You’d think this would translate to perfect Vitamin D levels, but typically this isn’t the case.. Between office jobs, gym routines, and daily SPF use, many of us are not actually getting the level of sunshine needed to make vitamin D. Some of us also have genetics that make this even more difficult, and those of you with higher inflammatory loads (such as an autoimmune condition, recent or frequent illness, or a chronic disease state) are at higher risk for low vitamin D levels.
Everyone should know their vitamin D levels
Vitamin D is one of the most common deficiencies I see in my practice, and the need for vitamin D is far-reaching – every cell in the body has a vitamin D receptor. We don’t fully understand why this is and all of the roles vitamin is playing, but we do know that vitamin D is a powerful anti-inflammatory. This is one of my primary reasons for making sure individuals have adequate amounts; I have seen correction of low vitamin D levels help with inflammatory states such as allergies, skin rashes, and autoimmune flares. Vitamin D is also necessary for robust immune health, mood stabilization (it is involved in neurotransmitter synthesis), and is of course essential for bone health.
Unfortunately, vitamin D tests are not often covered by insurances (risking a costly bill for you, typically $250 for vitamin D when charged to insurance and denied) and many doctors have stopped running this test for general screening purposes. But we can help. If you are without a recent vitamin D test or have never had your levels tested, we offer this at Infuse for $30. Please ask about this at your next appointment – we might be able to do it for you on the spot!
Vitamin D Injection Availability
We know that many of you have struggled to find vitamin D for injection over the months. Vitamin D has been a difficult product to source in California the last two years due to a lack of California-licensed compounding pharmacies making it. Facilities that have had vitamin D available have likely been sourcing it out of state and thus risking Board of Pharmacy enforcement action (e.g. thousands of dollars in fines) in the process.
We were recently able to source vitamin D by appropriate (legal) means and now have it in stock for the foreseeable future. However, unlike our other vitamin injections that are water-soluble and thus do not accumulate in the body, vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin and can build up in the body, and too much vitamin D is a health risk. Without recent documentation of vitamin D levels confirming low risk for hypervitaminosis D, we will be unable to administer larger doses of it. We also limit vitamin D injections to 1x per month for this reason. Frankly low vitamin D as confirmed by a recent lab test will allow for more frequent and higher dosing.
At Infuse Wellness, we offer Vitamin D3 injections — quick, painless, effectiveVitamin D3 | $45
Supports your immune system, helps reduce inflammation, supports mood, necessary for healthy bones
What Makes Injections Different?
- Direct delivery: No detour through your digestive system. If you’re someone with IBS, , a sensitive gut, or other GI issues, you’re likely not absorbing nutrients as well as you should. Injection is the fastest route to repleting your vitamin D levels.
- Stronger dosage, longer effect: An injection allows for larger doses to be given. A single injection can offer what would take weeks of oral dosing to do.
- Consistency: Injections decrease your pill burden and take one thing off your daily to-do list.
How It Works at Infuse Wellness
Even though this is a simple injection, we still take it seriously as the medical treatment it is. We can’t say the same for other Santa Monica injection clinics. This is an easy process and you’ll walk away with more assurance on your health.
Here’s how your visit might go:
- Quick consult: We’ll chat about what’s going on, what you’re feeling, any lab work you have. If you need your vitamin D levels done, we can do it right there in-office.
- We customize your dose: Not everybody needs the same amount. We’ll discuss what is best for you.
- The actual injection? Over in seconds. Upper glute, tiny pinch, you’re done.
- Post-care? No concerns when it is done right, but we are always available if you have questions afterward.
People enjoy the convenience of how fast it is. You walk out feeling like you checked something major off your list — in under 15 minutes.
Is This for You?
If you’re wondering, “Could I actually be low on Vitamin D?” — the answer might be yes. A lot of people are and don’t know it. Symptoms can be vague:
- Not feeling your best
- Brain fog that lingers
- More soreness after workouts
- Catching colds back to back
- Persistent allergies
- Mood dips, especially in cloudy months
- Low energy no matter how much you sleep
You might also be at higher risk if:
- You work indoors most of the day
- You’ve got darker skin (melanin blocks D synthesis)
- You’re over 50
- You follow a vegan or vegetarian diet
- You have an autoimmune condition or gut challenges

FAQs — Straight From Our Local Clients
-
Can I just walk in for a D3 shot?
Sometimes, yes. We do our best to accommodate walk-ins, especially if you’re a returning client. But a quick call ahead helps us make space. -
How often should I get this?
This depends on your vitamin D levels. Because vitamin D can accumulate in the body, we don’t allow more than one injection a month, unless we have labs to review that directly. We’ll help you figure out what’s right for you.
-
I already take a multivitamin — do I still need this?
Many multivitamins have no or very little vitamin D in them; they also usually aren’t in an oil base which provides the best absorption. Additionally , if your gut isn’t absorbing nutrients well, it might not even matter. The injection bypasses all of this.
-
I spend time outside — can I still be deficient?
Absolutely. Between sunscreen, cloud cover, time of day, and genetics, your skin may not be set up to produce enoughD3. This is very common, even in sunny SoCal.
-
Does it hurt? Will I feel anything after?
It’s one quick poke — most people say it barely registers. Some feel a mood or energy lift within a few days, but others notice more subtle effects over time.
Wrap It All Up: Is It Worth It?
In today’s environment of chronic health stressors, yes..
A $45 Vitamin D3 injection isn’t some fancy biohack — it’s just an easy, low-effort way to support your body when life gets hectic. And if it means fewer sick days, better mood, clearer thinking? That’s a solid return on investment.
So whether you’re local to Santa Monica or coming in from nearby neighborhoods, we’ve got you. You don’t need a full health overhaul — just a few small, smart shifts. And this? It’s a great place to start.
